Experience unforgettable moments in the midst of Morocco’s stunning coastal landscape. Imsouane – where tradition meets exciting waves.
The Spot
Along with Taghazout and Anker Point, Imsouane is probably the most famous surf spot in Morocco. “The Bay”, one of the two main wave breaks in Imsouane, is home to one of the longest waves in Africa, reaching an incredible 900 meters on a good day. The perfect right, which is soft and gentle and simply doesn’t break, is not only a longboarder’s dream, but also very accessible for beginners. “La Cathédrale”, on the other hand, is known for its more challenging conditions and is best suited for advanced riders looking for a challenge. It offers both left and right hand waves that end in a reef. The waves at both spots extend for a considerable distance, which guarantees an intense surfing experience.
The Village
Away from the surfing adventure, Imsouane retains its traditional character as a charming fishing village. The quiet and relaxed atmosphere makes it an ideal place for rest and relaxation. The coastline around Imsouane boasts breathtaking cliffs and hidden coves that provide the perfect backdrop for unforgettable sunsets. After a successful surf session, you can enjoy freshly caught fish in one of the restaurants located right on the spot, watch the colorful hustle and bustle of incoming fishing boats and surfers, and relax.
The Trip
Imsouane is located about 90 km north of Agadir. The drive from Agadir takes about 1.5 hours and is a real highlight in itself. Along the Atlantic coast with its endless beaches, the foothills of the Altas mountains with their caves rise up on the other side. The journey takes you through small fishing villages with their markets and you get a good impression of the life of the locals in the rural regions. An absolute highlight is the small village of “Aghroud” with its colorful houses or the herds of camels and goats in the argan trees, which you will see again and again during the trip. The trip may be extended by one or two photo stops, but the pictures and the experience are definitely worth it!
The day trip to Imsouane can also be easily combined with a stopover for sandboarding, as little Sahra is on the way to Imsouane.
